Prof. Thomas Peterson has an ongoing research collaboration with the “Centro Interuniversitario Franco Fortini” at the University of Siena, Italy. The Center houses the archives of Franco Fortini, a prominent Italian poet and intellectual who taught at the University of Siena until his death in 1994. The International Cooperative Agreement between our department and the Universities of Siena (Prof. Luca Lenzini), Padua (Prof. Pier Vincenzo Mengaldo), Paris (III) (Prof. Jean-Charles Vegliante) and the Istituto Orientale of Naples (Prof. Giovanni La Guardia) was begun in 2006. As part of this collaboration, Prof. Peterson serves on the Board of Guarantors of the “Centro Interuniversitario.” Among the Center’s activities is the publication of online and print versions of the journal of the L’Ospite ingrato.
The forthcoming print issue of L’Ospite ingrato is dedicated to the thought of Walter Benjamin and includes Prof. Peterson’s essay, “La storia come montaggio in Benjamin.” A future project planned in collaboration with the Center is an edition of Prof. Peterson’s translations of Fortini’s poetry.
