Luiz Roberto Farias is a Ph.D. student at The University of Georgia. He researches Brazilian cinema and literature from the state of Pernambuco, Brazil. Farias has written the preface to Hermilo Borba Filho's novel, Agá, 2019, and has taken part in the documentary by acclaimed Brazilian director Hilton Lacerda, A Prática da Anarquia: Uma leitura de Sobrados e Mocambos. Farias has an M.A in Theory of Literature at the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco. He also studied classical guitar and double bass at the Conservatório Pernambucano de Música and plays Brazilian and American music.
