Teaching Assistant of Spanish

Sherry Kate Nourizadeh is a PhD Candidate in Hispanic Studies, specializing in contemporary Latin American Literature and Human Rights. Her research examines Human Rights in Latin America, particularly focusing on political oppression, gender and sexuality, indigenous rights, and environmental ethics through contemporary testimonial poetry. While at UGA, she also completed a Graduate Certificate in Latin American and Caribbean Studies. 
She has been teaching Spanish courses for the Department of Romance Languages as Instructor of Record since Fall 2019 and was a 2023 recipient of the Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award. 

 

Research Interests:

Modern and Contemporary Latin American Literature, Human Rights, Memory and Testimony Studies, Gender and Sexuality Studies, Poetry and Poetics, Literature and Politics, Environmental Humanities, Latin American Ecocriticism.
