RESOURCES AND SERVICES

Media Classrooms
We have four language media classrooms equipped with analog and CD digital audio listening and recording capabilities, international VCR and DVD players, image camera, computer projector and internet connection. To schedule a class in one of these rooms, please contact Gary Baker. Classroom Calendar

Computer Lab
Students may continue their language study individually by checking out DVDs, video and audio tapes and supplemental material provided by their instructors and the LRC materials library (Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm).

Phonology Lab
The LRC has just completed the installation of a specialized computer lab for phonological research. For scheduling, contact Margaret Quesada or Gary Baker.

MORE RESOURCES

Video Library
A list of foreign language videos (VHS and DVD) is available for instructors to check out and show in their classes. Students may check them out for viewing in the Computer Lab. Videos available via WebCT on in red. Video Library/WebCT Content in PDF

Recording Studio
Instructors may set up a video recording time in our studio or check out video cameras for filming in Gilbert Hall. For staff assistance or filming outside Gilbert Hall, please schedule at least a week in advance.

Training Sessions
We offer training sessions on the use of the media language classrooms at the beginning of each semester at scheduled times. We can also schedule individual sessions throughout the semester with advance notice. Please contact either Margaret Quesada or Gary Baker for an individual training session.

Conference Room
We have a conference room that is available for smaller classes and meetings (maximum 15) equipped with DVD and VHS players, computer, projector and internet access. For scheduling, contact Margaret Quesada or Gary Baker.

Equipment
Instructors may check out digital and VHS video cameras, portable VHS players with integrated monitor, digital audio recorders and tape recorders. For checkout, see Amy Duran.

Additional Services
Converting formats: International VHS format (PAL or SECAM) to U.S. format (NTSC); analog audio tapes to digital; audio WAV to mp3 files.

Dubbing services: Duplication of content must comply with copyright laws.

Editing services: In the future, we expect to offer this service and will invite you to use our facilities for your digital editing needs (previous appointment necessary).
