Karin Morris Retires

Karin Morris with her husband, Tommy, at the reception held in her honor.

Karin Morris, beloved staff member of the Department for 27 years, retired at the end of February. Karin began with us as a secretary in June, 1977 and retired as Business Manager. Expressing a desire to spend more time with her family, Karin left with the appreciation of hundreds of people whom she has helped over the years. more...

Francis Assaf Named Distinguished Professor

The University of Georgia has recognized Francis Assaf, Professor of French, with a Distinguished Research Professorship. This appointment is a UGA-wide honor intended to recognize outstanding research or other creative, scholarly accomplishments and to provide the impetus for continuing high achievement. more...


Spring Break 2004: The Spanish Language Community

For the second year in a row, the students of the Spanish Language Community in Mary Lyndon Hall traveled to the “Island of Enchantment,” Puerto Rico. Only three of the members of the group were returning students, the other seven were there for the first time. The trip was the perfect opportunity for these students to practice the skills learned in the language community. They spoke to locals wherever they went and had the chance to visit some of the most beautiful localities of the island. more...
