JEAN-PIERRE J. PIRIOU

Professor of French
Ph.D., University of Virginia, 1973

Dr. Jean-Pierre J. Piriou has research interests in 20th century French literature and civilization, and in contemporary francophone literature, particularly of Martinique, Guadeloupe, and Haiti. He is the author, co-author and editor of several books including Sexualité, Religion et Art chez Julien Green, Genèse et critique d'une autobiographie: Les Mots de Jean-Paul Sartre, Memories of Evil Days, and Une grande amitié: Correspondance Julien Green Jacques Maritain. He has also co-authored a French textbook, Rapports. He is the recipient of a Creative Research Award and is a Chevalier dans l'ordre des Palmes Académiques.
