Portuguese Teaching Assistant

Kaiane Mendel is a Fulbright Portuguese Teaching Assistant at the University of Georgia, and a PhD student in Applied Linguistics at the Federal Universidade of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Brazil. At UFRGS, she also earned a MA in the same field and a BA in Portuguese and English Language and Literature. Kaiane's research focuses on language testing, especially related to the Certificate of Proficiency in Portuguese for Foreigners (Celpe-Bras). She has taught Portuguese for Brazilians and for learners from all over the world, and this is her first experience abroad.
