Mateus holds a degree in English Literature from the Federal University of Piauí (UFPI) and works as a teacher, editor, and text translator.

During their undergraduate studies, they participated in teaching and outreach programs that not only promoted the teaching of foreign languages in public schools in their city, and academic community, but also fostered their interest in literature, leading them to delve into the field by researching Psychoanalytic Literary Criticism.
