Lecturer Spanish Language Supervisor Affiliate Faculty, Institute of Women's Studies I am a Lecturer in Spanish and Supervisor of the Spanish Language Program. My teaching and research explore 20th- and 21st-century Latin American literature and culture, with particular attention to queer representation before, during, and after Latin American dictatorships. My work examines how literature and film negotiate power, space, and identity in the post-dictatorship era. In addition to my literary scholarship, I teach courses in Medical Spanish and Spanish-English Medical Interpreting, where students gain applied experience through service-learning partnerships with the UGA College of Pharmacy and Augusta University’s Medical College of Georgia. These courses prepare students for community engagement and professional interpreting in healthcare settings. I am the faculty advisor for España en Corto, UGA’s annual short film festival of Spanish-language cinema, and for the Global Brigades – UGA Chapter, which leads medical and public health service trips abroad. I also serve as Coordinator for the UGA en España Madrid/Barcelona Maymester Program. My teaching integrates cultural inquiry, social justice, and professional preparation, encouraging students to see language as a tool for connection, advocacy, and transformation.
