Amanda holds a B.A. in English, a secondary B.A. in Portuguese, and a specialization in Inclusive Education. Her teaching experience spans diverse age groups and educational contexts, and her interest in Portuguese as a Foreign Language grew from her experience as both a language learner and educator.

Originally from Manaus, in the Brazilian Amazon, Amanda is particularly interested in Indigenous identities, gender, ecofeminism, cultural survival, and the diverse cultural expressions of Amazonian communities. Her academic interests include representations of Indigenous women and Amazonian identities in Brazilian literature and other cultural forms, particularly perspectives that challenge stereotypical representations of the Amazon.

Outside academia, Amanda enjoys nature, hiking, climbing, dance, and music. She is passionate about Brazil and committed to sharing the cultural diversity of the Amazon and Northern Brazil.
