Lisette C. Whitehead is a PhD student in the Department of Romance Languages at the University of Georgia. Her research interests include contemporary Latin American literature written by women, with a focus on Latinx Studies, decolonial perspectives, gender theories, and education.

Currently, she assists with and teaches two sections of ROML/SPAN 2550 at UGA while also tutoring through the Writing Tutoring Program in the Department of Romance Languages. As a side job, she also teaches Spanish and English as a Second Language (ESL) at The Hello House in East Athens, Georgia. Lisette received her M.A. in Spanish in spring 2026 and worked as an instructor for SPAN 1002 during the summer. During the 2024–2026 academic years, she assisted with SPAN 1002 and SPAN 2001 and taught SPAN 1001. In summer 2025, Lisette served as a Study Abroad Program Assistant for UGA en España in Valencia, Spain. Prior to her time at UGA, she taught in a variety of educational contexts and worked as an ESL instructor for both children and adults in Santiago, Chile.

Lisette is committed to advancing Hispanic Studies through her academic work while exploring diverse strategies for incorporating these fields into broader educational settings.
