Lecturer of Italian

Samantha Gillen received her Ph.D. in Italian Studies from the University of Pennsylvania in 2022. Her research explores the 1960s and how writers of the subgenre letteratura industriale (Italo Calvino, Luciano Bianciardi, Paolo Volponi, Ottiero Ottieri) represented the relationship between their semi-autobiographical protagonists and the industrialized spaces they inhabited. She has taught Italian language from beginning to advanced and received a Dean’s Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2021.
