PhD Candidate
Teaching Assistant of Portuguese and Spanish

I was born in Roraima, Brazil, and I am a fourth year PhD candidate in the Portuguese program, with a Spanish minor. During my MA in Rio de Janeiro, I researched contemporary Brazilian literature and graphic novel adaptations, and the representation of indigenous identities. Back in Brazil, I was a Middle and High School teacher of Portuguese language and literature. At UGA, I am a Portuguese and Spanish Teaching Assistant, Portuguese tutor at the Flagship program and I was president of the Brazilian Student Association (BSA) for the academic year of 2019-2020. My research is about the expression of identities in Latin America through comic books and graphic novels from that region. My current interests include, but are not limited to, Latin American women's literature and comics, fictional narratives of migration, representation of marginalized identities, independent and online publications.
